overview

sunset is a sleep reminder app. we collect minimal data to deliver notifications. this policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

data we collect

device identifier — a vendor-specific id that resets when you reinstall the app. it cannot track you across other apps or identify you personally.

push notification tokens — temporary tokens issued by apple to deliver notifications. these rotate automatically and cannot identify you.

alarm time and timezone — your configured wake-up time and timezone, used to schedule reminders at the correct local time.

data we do not collect

- no personal information (name, email, phone, address)

- no location or gps data

- no health, fitness, or sleep tracking data

- no contacts, photos, or files

- no usage analytics or behavioral tracking

- no advertising or cross-app identifiers

how we use your data

your data is used exclusively to deliver scheduled sleep reminders and wake-up notifications at the times you configure. we do not use your data for any other purpose.

service providers

we use the following services to operate the app:

apple push notification service (apns) — delivers notifications to your device. apple receives your push tokens but cannot use them to identify you.

supabase — stores your alarm schedule and tokens on secure servers in the united states. supabase acts as a data processor on our behalf.

these providers process data only as necessary to deliver notifications. we do not sell or share your data for advertising or marketing.

data retention

your data is retained on our servers while you actively use the app. if you uninstall the app, your device identifier resets and your server record becomes orphaned. orphaned records are periodically purged. you may also request immediate deletion by contacting us.

data security

all data transmission is encrypted using tls. server data is stored in secure, access-controlled databases. we follow industry-standard security practices.

your rights

you can:

- delete your data by uninstalling the app (resets your identifier) or by emailing us for immediate server deletion

- disable notifications in ios settings at any time

- request your data by contacting us

if you are in the european union, you have additional rights under gdpr including access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. contact us to exercise these rights.

international users

our servers are located in the united states. by using the app, you consent to the transfer of your data to the us. we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers.

children

sunset is not directed at children under 13. we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

changes to this policy

we may update this policy from time to time. changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
